Terms and conditions

These terms apply when you use HandySpan as a homeowner or as a tradesperson. Please read them. By posting a job or registering you agree to them.

About HandySpan

HandySpan is an online introduction service on the Costa del Sol. Homeowners post a job. Approved tradespeople can show interest in it. The homeowner then chooses who to hear from. HandySpan is not a builder or contractor and is not a party to any agreement between a homeowner and a tradesperson. We do not supervise the work or guarantee its quality or price.

Using HandySpan

• You must be 18 or over.
• Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
• Use HandySpan lawfully and respectfully. Do not post false or offensive content or misuse other people's details.
• Do not copy the site by automated means or try to interfere with how it works.
• We may remove content or refuse access if these terms are broken.

For homeowners

• Posting a job is free. No login is needed.
• We review each job before it goes live. We may edit it or decline it.
• Your Job ID and email address let you check or cancel your job. Keep them private. We treat anyone who has both as you.
• Up to 3 tradespeople can show interest in your job (this limit may change). You choose who to hear from. Your name, phone number and email are shared only with the tradespeople you choose.
• You are free to choose anyone or nobody. Agreeing the work, price, timing and any permits (such as a licencia de obra) is between you and the tradesperson.
• Please check licences, insurance and references before you hire. HandySpan does not do this for you.
• You can cancel your job at any time.

For tradespeople

• Register with true details and your real ID. You may have one account per business.
• We decide whether to approve an application. We may reject or suspend accounts, for example if information is false or a duplicate account is found.
• Approval means we have reviewed the details and ID you gave us. It is not a guarantee of your skills, licences, insurance or quality. Please do not describe it as one.
• You are an independent business. You are responsible for your own licences, insurance, taxes, registration, health and safety and the quality of your work.
• Keep your login safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• Use a homeowner's details only to discuss and carry out the job they chose you for. Do not add them to marketing lists or pass them on.
• Be honest with homeowners and respond to those who select you.

Showing interest and being selected

• You can show interest in jobs that match your trade and area. Showing interest is free.
• The homeowner decides who to hear from. We do not promise any number of jobs or selections.
• When a homeowner selects you we take the Job Coins for that job from your balance and share contact details both ways. If you are not selected you pay nothing.
• A job can lead to up to 3 selections. Each is charged separately.

Job Coins

• Job Coins are prepaid credits that you use to pay for introductions on HandySpan (also called marketing spend credits). They are not money or electronic money and they earn no interest. They cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
• No commission. HandySpan does not take a commission or a percentage of the price you agree with a homeowner. The only charge for introductions is the Job Coins described in this section.
• No subscription. At the moment there is no monthly or annual fee to register or keep an account.
• Paid Job Coins cost €1 each plus IVA. For example 20 coins cost €20 plus IVA. Paid Job Coins are not on sale yet. Until they are these terms apply to free and promotional coins only.
• The cost of a job is between 3 and 50 Job Coins depending on the estimated value of the job, as set out in the pricing table below. We show you the cost before you show interest. The cost shown when you show interest is the cost you pay for that job. It is charged when a homeowner selects you and not before.
• Free launch coins and referral coins are promotional. They have no cash value and cannot be bought or sold or transferred. They are not refundable. We may change or withdraw promotions for the future. Coins already credited to you are not affected.
• Referrals: you earn 5 free coins when a tradesperson you refer is approved and offers at least one trade that you do not.
• Paid Job Coins are not refundable except where the law requires. If we close your account for any reason other than a breach of these terms we will refund the value of your unused paid coins. If you close your account yourself, any Job Coins you have left (paid or free) are not refunded.
• We may change prices and the cost of jobs. We will give at least 30 days' notice on the website and by email. Changes apply to selections made after they take effect.
• Prices exclude IVA. We will issue an invoice for each purchase.
• If Job Coins or referrals are misused (for example fake accounts or referral abuse) we may remove the coins and close the accounts.

Job Coins pricing

These prices apply from 26 October 2026. The cost of a job depends on its estimated value. We estimate the value of each job and set the cost. We show you the cost before you show interest.

One Job Coin costs €1 plus IVA. The cost is charged once for each selection. A job can lead to up to 3 selections.

Ratings and reviews

Once reviews are available a tradesperson shows a New badge until they have 3 genuine reviews. After that their average rating is shown. Reviews must be honest and come from real customers. We may remove reviews that break this rule.

Ending your use

You can close your account or stop using HandySpan at any time by emailing hello@handyspan.com. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Homeowners can cancel a job on the Check Job page.

Our responsibility

• We are not responsible for the work, prices, advice, timing or conduct of any tradesperson or homeowner or for any dispute between them.
• We do our best to keep HandySpan available and accurate but we cannot promise it will never have errors or downtime.
• Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
• Subject to that our total liability to a tradesperson for any claim is limited to the amount they paid us in the previous 12 months. Our liability to homeowners is limited to direct losses that were reasonably foreseeable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter we will tell registered tradespeople by email and update the date at the top. Using HandySpan after a change means you accept it.

Law and disputes

Spanish law applies. The courts of Málaga can hear disputes unless mandatory consumer rules let you use the courts where you live.
